Ok, so I'm a newb here and interested in guns, but know very little of the terms and parts. Any suggestions on places to read up before I make and buys? Thanks bunches.

I have bought a few Pistols and Rifles through this site:

http://www.thegunsource.com/store/

I have also got several C&R guns through various dealer sites as well. That won't last long I'm afraid.

What exactly are you looking for in a gun? Self defense, sport, hunting, etc.? Of course you could always look up basic info (and sometimes rather decent info - on www.wikipedia.org on particular brands or makes). There are various boards and sites dedicated to particular firearms and people have their favorites so getting an unbiased opinion will be next to impossible. I have mine - Glock (carry sidearm) and Hi-Point (truck gun) pistols, AK-47 and SKS carbines for defense and sport (maybe even a "Street Sweeper" shotgun - Armsel Striker), Weatherby (rifle) and browning (shotgun) for hunting.

But like I said, everyone has their favorites and mine come after years of wasted "play time" in the mountains and deserts.

Come to think of it, I got my last four purchases off http://www.gunbroker.com/ and http://www.auctionarms.com/ from online auctions. Just got lucky on a handful of bids.

Already got some basic guns, looking more at carbines and maybe a suped up pistol. I like the 306 carbines, but when looking at websites they refer to parts to choose from. That's where they loose me.

Well I have a couple SKS carbines just made into evil "black" guns. Maybe in a couple weeks I will go to the club for "play time" and post some pics. They are still 922r compliant but amazing what you can still do when determined. I still have my stash of unaltered classic chinese Norincos and Yugoslavs however. But as far as "parts", there are more on the market everyday. Just tonight I put nitesiters (cheap glue night sights) on two Hi-Point C9 pistols, as well as, made my own rubber grips for them out of an old bicycle tire tube. I could have spent money but if you want to inovate, then go for it as that's part of the fun. When it comes to "parts" you are only limited by your imagination (and the law).
